Ventriloquists are extremely talented individuals and it takes years of practice to become skilled in this ancient craft. Ventriloquism is a stagecraft in which the ventriloquist changes their voice to make it seem that the voice is coming from another place in the room or from a puppet. These are sometimes referred to as a ventriloquist “dummy.” In ancient times, early ventriloquists were so skilled that people began to see them as being “unholy” and they started being persecuted by the church, believe it or not. For years, it was an obscure art form, but it’s regained popularity thanks to a precocious young lady.
Darci Lynne Farmer is a teenage girl from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and her skill as a ventriloquist has made this ancient craft cool again. In fact, she’s so talented that she won season 12 of the popular NBC show “America’s Got Talent.” When the show did “America’s Got Talen: The Champions,” Darci Lynne was a runner-up. She is the third child to win the show, although there have been two other ventriloquists who have won over the years. However, there’s something about Darci that sets her apart even as a ventriloquist. She’s a singing ventriloquist, and you won’t believe your ears when you hear her.
Darci Lynne got started doing ventriloquism because she had social anxiety and was painfully shy. Afraid to perform before audiences, she got the idea from her parents to participate in a scholarship program in 2014. She won the competition and was crowned “Mini Miss.” Darci Lynne received her first ventriloquist dummy when she was only 10 years old. This young lady has been described by another ventriloquist as one of the most talented people on the planet.
In the video below, you’ll see Darci Lynne in 2016. She is performing with one of her puppets named Edna Doorknocker. Edna starts flirting with a man in the audience. The video has been viewed more than eight million times on YouTube alone. Enjoy!
