As a kid, I used to love going over and visiting with my grandmother for sleepovers. We would eat all of my favorite foods, make desserts, and watch late-night TV shows like “Morgus Presents,” a local low-budget New Orleans production that ran old horror movies hosted by a quirky mad scientist and his trusty henchman. Those were some of the best times of my life, and those memories are among the best of my childhood.
Sadly, as I grew older, I didn’t visit my grandma as often, and then one day, I learned that she had passed away. There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t regret not spending more time with her during her final years with us. So often, as adults, we get so caught up in everything we start taking those we love for granted. However, one granddaughter says she doesn’t want to make that mistake when it comes to her grandfather.
Recently, the woman’s grandpa invited her to come and have a sleepover, just like they used to do when she was a little girl. Now, most folks would have found an excuse while trying not to hurt their grandpa’s feelings, but this granddaughter thought it was a fantastic idea and agreed right away!
Megan Elizabeth has always had a wonderful relationship with her grandparents ever since she was a kid. She spent countless days in their loving care sharing many heartwarming memories. Sadly, Megan and her grandfather lost grandma a few years back. And since then, he’d been feeling a little lonely.
Recently, Megan shared a chat she had with her grandfather on her Instagram and TikTok accounts. During one of their phone conversations, her grandfather was feeling a bit under the weather and even cried. Then one night, he texted her out of the blue asking if she would like to come over for a sleepover, saying:
“I haven’t been feeling well and miss you. We can order food and watch a mystery show. Love, grandpa.”
Megan shared the texts explaining how he’d been feeling so lonely ever since she last spoke with him.
In the caption, she said that his health had been on the decline, so she now takes every opportunity she can to see him. And without further ado, Meghan jumped in her car, drove over to KFC, and made a quick stop at the grocery store to pick up a few snacks.
Grandpa also had a few requests:
“Could you pick up applesauce? The cinnamon kind. And if you go somewhere with mash potatoes, I would like that because I have no teeth and can only eat soft things. Ha!”
He also added some strawberry ice cream to the list, and who can blame him!
He ended the text with, “Thank you. You are my favorite granddaughter.” Meghan couldn’t help but laugh as she was his only granddaughter. Nevertheless, it was very sweet of him to say.
Meghan arrived bearing gifts, and the two spent the evening enjoying ice cream and something much more special, each other’s company.
The two watched grandpa’s favorite black and white mystery show before they went to bed. Megan soon discovered that her grandpa had fixed up her old room the same way he and grandma used to when she was little!
He even ensured that his granddaughter had a glass of water by her bedside just in case she got thirsty. And she noticed how “he made my bed how he used to make it, when I was little with my favorite doll of my grandma’s (rest in peace). And gave me a flashlight ‘in case I got scared’.”
The video concluded with her lying on the betting while getting a bit teary-eyed. The caption read:
“Staying here brings back so many good memories from my childhood. I love my grandpa so much!”
Unfortunately, she had to leave early in the morning, so they couldn’t share breakfast, but grandpa wouldn’t let her leave without saying goodbye.
In the follow-up video, she said:
“I had to work at 5:30AM and he got up to wave goodbye to me and wish me a good day.”
If that’s not pure love, folks, tell me what is!
