Baby with Down Syndrome Melting Hearts and Changing Attitudes With Her Adorable Smile

It wasn’t so long ago that a certain word was used to describe beautiful children who were developmentally different from other kids. Thankfully, society has evolved to the point where this word isn’t even used clinically, much less socially. However, society still has a long way to go when it comes to steering hearts and minds away from the toxic way of thinking that gave birth to the “R-word.”

But thanks to a strong global public campaign to educate people about developmental conditions such as Down syndrome, people are beginning to understand the science behind why these children are a bit different and how they can still prove valuable to our society. In a video posted to Facebook by the National Down Syndrome Adoption Network, an adorable 8-month-old girl only identified as “Baby H” is shown lying on his favorite blanket for some tummy time.

An adoptive mom shared the video in the program who wished to show people that children with Down syndrome were every bit as cute and precious as any other child.[1]

When her mom asks how her day is going so far, Baby H looks up and gives her the biggest, brightest little smile.

Her mom coos back, loving her daughter’s precious smile, and asks her, “Can you show me again?

After a moment, her precious angel happily obliges, grinning from ear to ear.

Her mom giggles and says, “Oh my goodness! I like that new smile!”

Thrilled, the sweet little girl gladly keeps up her cuteness for the camera.

The Family was more than happy to share this sweet moment with the rest of the world, telling the Daily Mail:

“You can tell by my laughter how much we adore this smile and she actually only smiled like this for a couple of weeks so this video is a treasure for us.”[2]

They made the decision to share the video via the National Down Syndrome Adoption Network because:

“We hope that all the viewers will see the beauty that lies in people with Down Syndrome. Although a Down Syndrome diagnosis can be scary, the reality is that your child has a purpose and will be able to live a full and happy life.”

Thus far, the video has gained over 300,000 likes and over 38,000 comments on Facebook alone!

See what has so many people smiling from their souls to their lips in the video below.
