Are there any babies or little ones who don’t love to have a story read to them? Even adults love storytime, I think, and the popularity of audiobooks has proven that. When it comes to little ones, though, it’s important that they hear our voices and see our facial expressions when we read them a story. It helps them to connect with us, but it also makes them become interested in the magic that can be found only between the pages of a book. As it turns out, even baby animals enjoy storytime! Some video footage was captured of Dalton the Storytelling Dragon reading a story to 10 Golden Retriever Puppies.
Yes, it was just as completely adorable as you would expect it to be. The puppies live with their family in Redlands, California and they are completely transfixed as Dalton reads “Jack and the Beanstalk” to them at storytime. The fact is, Dalton could have been reading the phone book and they would have been just as happy, I suspect. It’s all in the soothing voice and the uplifting tone that Dalton has. Dalton is a 12″ tall animated stuffed plush toy. He recited five different classic stories and fairy tales: Hansel and Gretal, Jack and the Beanstalk, Rapunzel, The Ugly Duckling, and Sleeping Beauty.
The adorable and loquacious Dalton operates on batteries, but the pups don’t know that and they don’t care. For all they know, we humans may be operating on batteries, too. Just as important as the soothing and positive voice, Dalton is also somewhat animated. His little eyes light up as he tells the story, and his feet have pause and play buttons that human children can use to skip ahead to the next story. Kiddos love Dalton and his friends (also storytellers) if the reviews on Amazon are any indication.
